Audience Feedback of Final Magazine

From my audience feedback i can recognise that nearly all of the options from my front cover were enjoyed by the audience as they seemed to recognise that most of the features on the front cover were stereotypical of a magazine in this genre. One of the things that i could have changed with my front cover would have been the colour of the text boxes as i would have made them more transparent to show more of the background.

With my contents page i would have changed the images so that they related more to the genre which i was basing my music magazine around as i think the images that i used relate more to the genre of alternative rock as the guitar can be displayed by this but after talking to the audience more about feedback from thi result they say that it was more to do with the presentation as the images would have been better with darker backgrounds.

With my double page spread there were good results throughout the whole of this feedback
and i think this is good as i spend a lot of time perfecting my double page spread to make sure that it had an article which would be relating to the genre and what the audience would be interested in.

7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

4. Who would be the audience for your music magazine?

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your music magazine and why?

Bauer would be a good magazine institution to produce my magazine as it already produces music magazines like Q which have a similar house style of the magazine to what I am producing.

I have chosen Bauer to produce my magazine and the current example of the magazines that they produce is ‘Q’ magazine and ‘Kerrang’ magazine which are both well selling magazines. I think that my magazine would fit nicely into this company because it would offer something different to what they usually produce to attract a different audience for the company.

I think that there is a gap in the market for this genre of magazine and I think that this is why this will a good magazine to produce because I think there are not any really well selling drum and bass magazines, this shows how there is a gap in the market which can be filled by my magazine. The target audience is people who are interested in drum and bass music magazines and this is why I think there is a way to get into the music magazine market.

I think that the only companies that would definitely not distribute my magazine are IPC and EMAP as they specialise in more of the lifestyle and nature aspects which my music magazine is definitely not related to. I think that these obviously offer different products and my magazine would still not be able to find the right target audience with this company.

2. How does your music magazine represent particular social groups?

The social groups which I have represented in my magazine are that of teenage years as I think that these are the type of groups that would be relating to the target audience. The exact social groups which I think my magazine has been aimed at are the ‘Townies’ and ‘Scene stars’ as I think that these groups are the ones who would be most interested in the theme of drum and bass and that is why I think that my music magazine would represent people who are interested in this genre of music. With the representation I think I have also presented the youth as in teenagers as people who all have bright futures as it shows in my journalistic double page spread. With the props I have worked out that quite a few teenagers play the guitar and loads use headphones like the ones which have been presented, this shows how I am relating the props which I have used back to the target audience and social groups. With the location, camera shots & angles I think that I tried to use some camera shots which would appeal to the social group of ‘Townies’ because I think that they will be able to recognise the pose.

The mode of address in this piece is neutral as I did not want to make it formal otherwise the target audience and social groups may not understand some parts but then I also thought that if it was informal it may not appeal to certain people of the target audience. There are magazines which are aimed at a similar social group and will be shown in the images below but I think that I have still managed to appeal to a large audience.

Dubstep has recently become much more popular than it used to be so this magazine will represent the people that enjoy this music, it will also help represent what dubstep stands for so people who do not listen to this genre of music will know more about it once they have read through the magazine.
